One of the traditional annual highlights in the Rockwatch Event Calendar is its 4-night residential trip to Dorset and East Devon’s Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.
The annual residential trip is often a regular booking for many of our Rockwatch families. It’s a great opportunity to spend time with fellow enthusiasts of all ages.
Every year families join the Rockwatch Team and other local experts to explore different geological sites and nurture their passion and understanding of key geological themes. Previous trips have taken Rockwatchers to Branscombe, Purbeck and Swanage beaches to study coastal Erosion, or to Worbarrow Bay, Osmington and Lulworth Cove to study Fossils in the Service of Science.
There is plenty of practical geology, talks and great company with like-minded people who love geology and the outdoors.
For many years we’ve stayed at the Leeson House Field Studies Centre in Langton Maltravers just outside Swanage – it’s comfortable, spacious and with wonderful grounds and all the accommodation and food is included in the cost of the trip. You can find out more about where we stay on the Lesson House website.
This year’s residential field trip is taking place in Dorset from Monday 29 July – Friday 2 August. There’s an exciting programme of geologising planned. To find out more see our events section.
