It’s the Geologists’ Association Annual Conference in Bristol from 27-29 September. There are lots of talks and field trips planned to celebrate the geological riches of the area including a special field trip for Rockwatchers.
When: We’ll be taking our intrepid young geologists to Ivy Farm in search of fossils on 29 September from 11am.
Where: Ivy Farm, East Dundry Lane, Dundry, Bristol BS41 8NH. National Grid reference ST 576.663.
Itinerary: Our Rockwatch leader, Rochard Washley will talk about Dundry Hill in relation to the general geology of the Bristol Region and a safety talk. There will be a display of fossils from the hill. We will allow approximately two hours for searching the fields for fossils and then gather together to identify finds.
Bring: Hard hats and high-vis jackets are not necessary but wellies are advisable as the fields can get muddy after rain. Hammers may be brought but are not usually necessary as fossils can generally be picked up. Bring along a packed lunch to eat!
Booking is easy for Rockwatch members. Just complete the booking form below and we’ll be in touch to confirm your booking soon.
